First 2009 Forum : causes, dimensions and foreseeable consequences of the global financial crisis and its impact on Costa Rica "

Objective:analyze, from different ideological positions, the causes of financial crisis (economic ), the dimensions and consequences of it, globally, with particular reference to what happened in industrialized countries, as well as the expected impact in Latin America and, in particular, how it will affect Costa Rica in the near future.
propose the measures to be taken in our country in the short term to mitigate the effects of the crisis and discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the Executive Shield Plan.- Organization:
The forum will last for a week (Monday to Friday) and will include a total of five evening sessions (four lectures commented, that will take place Monday through Thursday, and a concluding panel, which will take place on Friday).

Each speaker will have 45 minutes to make its initial presentation and additional 15 minutes to make the replica at the end of the session.

Each commentator will have 20 minutes to address the issues addressed by the speaker and making proposals as it deems appropriate.
At the conclusion of the comment period, will invite the public to put questions in writing, or make brief comments about the presentation of the speaker and the two commentators.

the end of the period for questions and comments, each speaker will have 15 minutes to replicate the approach of the commentators and the questions and comments emanating from the audience.
- Opinion Panel: Friday, 13 March
The forum will conclude with a session of analysis of the issues discussed and the recommendations made by the lecturers and guest commentators. The debriefing session will be organized as the panel of three experts invited:

- Manuel Rojas Bolaños
Each panelist will have 30 minutes to describe the focus of forum and raise its own view about the global crisis and its implications for Costa Rica, taking into consideration for this the speaker presentations, comments and suggestions raised by commenters.
At the conclusion of presentations by three panelists will invite the public to ask questions, in writing, or make brief comments about the issues. The floor to questions, comments and replies shall be extended for 30 minutes.
- forum Conclusion: The forum on the causes, dimensions and foreseeable consequences of the global financial crisis, with particular reference to the expected impacts and Costa Rica, will conclude at 20:00 Hours Friday 06 March.
- Publication of the conference and the conclusions and recommendations: The University of Costa Rica published an issue series "Studies on democratic institutions, which include summaries of the four conferences, commentaries on each, and the conclusions of the three panelists.
